🇬🇧 As we made our way back outside last year I resumed my normal makeup routine and with it, the need to carry a few basics in my purse in order to keep a fresh face all day long. You even have to sometimes continue into the evening if you can’t come back home to change before heading out so what are the makeup products that can help you achieve this while still staying presentable?

TOUCHE ÉCLAT : one of my desert-island products, I usually have one in every handbag just to be on the safe side. The YSL best-seller has often been presented as a concealer but it’s not, it’s a highlighter. It can be used wether you’re wearing makeup or not and everywhere there are natural shadows on the face : underneath your eyes, at the corners of the mouth  or on the sides of your nose. Radiant complexion guaranteed.

The YSL highlighter

BLOTTING PAPERS : originally from Japan, these are so helpful if like me your skin tends to shine. They will mattify and absorb any excess oil without disturbing your makeup as long as you just gently pat your skin without rubbing.

Tatcha’s Aburatorigami

PRESSED POWDER : this is a must-have especially if your skin tend to get oily or if you’re in a very hot/humid weather. Pressed powder will keep your foundation in place all day and if you select a lightweight high quality one,  you won’t end up with a cakey look. I’ve been using Laura Mercier’s Translucent loose powder for a long time now and so I’m partial to its Pressed version when on the go.

A pressed powder is a great way to smooth the complexion

LIPSTICK / LIPGLOSS / LIPBALM : I always have a bunch of nude lipsticks with me, my Mac original Lipglass if I need to amp it up all of a sudden or a couple of naturally tinted lipbalms. Depending on wether you’re weraing makeup or not, there are countless options available to do touch ups throughout the day. Here are the ones I think are universal enough to go with different looks

EYEBROW PENCIL : if you do wear makeup daily and use pencils for your eyebrows (I find that pencils give a more natural look for everyday makeup),  you know how they can wear off very easily, especially in the summer or if you’re someone who tends to touch their face a lot. Some pencils’ texture are also simply too greasy making it harder to stay on. So I always have my pencil with me.
