🇬🇧 I can confidently say that Ramadan is my favourite time of the year. The month fills me with excitement as it offers a chance to reset, refocus on what truly matters, and reflect on my past efforts and the past year.

However, going long hours without food or water can be challenging, especially for someone like me who drinks around 3 litres daily. This lack of hydration inevitably affects the skin.

As we enter the last few days of the sacred month, here are tips and tricks for maintaining healthy, glowing skin while fasting.

Hydrate!

Along with drinking lots of water between Iftar and Suhoor, incorporate skincare products rich in humectants like Hyaluronic Acid or Urea, which help draw moisture into the skin. Additionally, increasing ceramides in your routine is essential, as they restore and strengthen the skin barrier by filling the gaps between skin cells, ensuring long-lasting moisture. This goes for all skin types even oily skin.

Eat healthy

Ramadan is an ideal time to detox and be more mindful of our diet. Dates especially, are a fantastic source of Vitamin C and are packed with antioxidants that help combat cell damage and oxidation. They also contain pantothenic acid, contributing to a radiant, healthy glow.

Sleep

Getting enough sleep during Ramadan can be challenging, especially when it coincides with summer in the Northern Hemisphere. However, rest is crucial to preventing dark circles and maintaining a refreshed, healthy complexion.

You can continue to apply these tips after Ramadan, except maybe for too many ceramide-based formulas for oilier skin types, especially when it gets warmer or if you live in a hot country.  Dates are one of the healthiest snacks out there, all year long <3
